EFFECTIVE AUGUST 3, 2026
Privacy Policy
Adult-operated family activity. An adult must operate the device, supervise play, and approve location access. Children must not enter real names, contact details, or other personal information.
This policy explains how The Flins App Vault, LLC. (“we,” “us,” or “Operator”) handles information in Pokémon Field Academy (the “Service”). The Service is a fan-made educational activity and is not affiliated with Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Niantic, any city, or any park authority.
Information we collect
- Quest information: a user-chosen Trainer nickname, selected town, difficulty age band, game subject, quest identifier, randomized route seed, progress, timestamps, missed-answer count, score, and the adult’s consent timestamp.
- Feedback information: a selected category, 1–5 rating, written comment, current town, game, age-band setting, page context, and submission time. The form does not request a name, email address, phone number, or precise coordinate.
- Precise location: only after the adult taps a permission or checkpoint-validation button. A coordinate and accuracy reading is used to measure distance from the current checkpoint. The game does not write that coordinate to its database.
- Device and network information: our hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, request timestamps, browser information, cookies necessary to deliver or protect the site, and security logs.
- Optional website analytics: only after an adult selects “Allow analytics,” Google Analytics receives privacy-minimized visit and basic usage information. Advertising personalization and Google Signals are disabled. We do not send Trainer tags, answers, feedback text, quest identifiers, or precise GPS coordinates to Google Analytics. The choice is saved on the device and can be cleared through browser site-data settings.
- Local device information: the browser stores a random quest identifier so an unfinished game can resume. If natural narration is unavailable, the device speech system may provide a local backup voice.
How information is used
We use information only to run quests, enforce location-based unlocking, calculate scores, show town/game/age-band leaderboards, review feedback and improve the game, prevent abuse and profanity, maintain security, diagnose failures, and comply with law. We do not sell personal information, run behavioral advertising, or intentionally build location histories.
Public leaderboard
The Trainer nickname, score, completion time, and missed-answer count may appear publicly in a top-five leaderboard. Do not use a real name, school name, address, phone number, email address, social-media handle, or other identifying information. Nicknames are filtered, but no filter is perfect.
Children and parents
The Service is intended to be selected, operated, and supervised by an adult. The age-band choice controls educational difficulty; it is not a birth-date request. We do not knowingly ask a child to provide personal information. Because precise geolocation can be legally sensitive, the adult device operator must receive this notice and approve each browser permission. If you believe information from a child was submitted, request review or deletion immediately.
Sharing and service providers
Information is disclosed only as needed to infrastructure providers that host, secure, and deliver the Service; to comply with valid legal process; to protect safety, rights, or the Service; or as part of a lawful business transfer. Google Analytics is not loaded unless an adult allows it, and advertising features are disabled. Approved game narration text—not microphone recordings, player speech, or precise coordinates—is sent to OpenAI to generate natural audio and is cached by our hosting storage. Pokémon artwork is loaded from a public GitHub-hosted PokeAPI asset source, which may receive ordinary network-request information.
Retention and deletion
Unfinished quests are automatically eligible for deletion after 30 days. Completed leaderboard records and submitted feedback are automatically eligible for deletion after 12 months. Generated narration audio may be cached while its approved game script remains active. Hosting security logs may follow the provider’s separate retention schedule. Adults may request access, correction, or deletion by contacting the person who supplied the game link and asking that the request be escalated to The Flins App Vault, LLC.; include the Trainer nickname, town, approximate play date, and quest identifier if available. We may need to verify the request.
Security
We use HTTPS, restrictive browser headers, request validation, non-guessable identifiers, server-side answer and location checks, data minimization, and dependency review. No online system is guaranteed completely secure, and use of the Service cannot eliminate outdoor or internet risk.
Your choices
You may deny or revoke location permission in browser or device settings. The location hunt will not function without precise location. You may stop play, clear the saved quest identifier from browser storage, turn narration off, decline to submit feedback, or request deletion of a leaderboard or feedback record.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Service or legal requirements change. The effective date will be revised for material updates. Privacy, parental, deletion, feedback, or customer-support requests may be sent to theflinsappvaultllc@gmail.com. Do not email precise location coordinates, a child's full name, or other unnecessary personal information.
